while living amongst the gangs of inner city South Central.
“When I was six years old I'd freestyle and record myself with a tape recorder my grandfather got me for my birthday.”
Music was paramount is helping Jackson rise above such a harsh childhood.
His influences were Run DMC, Dana Dane, Doug E. Fresh, Slick Rick,
LL Cool J, and N.W.A.
As a young teenager Jackson became part of the R&B music group "3rd
Storee”. For nearly 10 years that milestone group allowed him to tour with mega
groups such as NSync and pop sensation Brittany Spears!
“We had one choreographer that made us run for thirty minutes while singing, he called it “running the capital”.”
Jackson later formed a hip-hop artist group “Minorities
Report” where he really began to show his individual talent and
passion as a hip-hop artist.
Jackson had the privilege throughout his career to work with talented grammy
award wining producers/songwriters such as Dr. Dre, Babyface, Rodney
Jerkins, Jon-John, Sean Garrett and Vidal. He has trained with some of the best;
Brook Payne, Dave Scott, Laurieann Gibson, Swoop, Tony Michaels, and Devyne.
“I see myself now as the kind of artist that will influence my listeners in a positive way because I tell them the truth.”
Jackson’s ability to smoothly switch from not only R&B to hip-hop,
but also pop shows his artistry transcends through obstacles that most artists
are not able to cross. His original, edgy, honest and raw lyrical content
along with his high energy performances and his
charismatic personality is what continues to set him apart.
Though his voice is often compared to Busta Rhymes, his style is more direct and focused.
Jackson’s overall sound can be described as Tupac meets Kayne West with a touch of Drake.
